Event Description
POCIE, the Dorchester Food Co-op, and the Boston Ujima Project teamed up for a discussion on food sovereignty with a panel of local experts.
We learned about food sovereignty, the importance of land access, local foods, and traditional ecological knowledge in an enlightening (and delicious) food sovereignty panel featuring a live cooking demonstration and tasting using all local edible “weeds”.
Our expert panelists Pat Spence, Marcos Beleche, and Apolo Cátala guided us in understanding concepts of food sovereignty, community power, and much more. We ate delicious food from the Co-Op, as well as some homemade edible weeds and vegetables prepared by Marcos!
